Hawaii Safe Travels Requires Travelers to Get Vaccinated For the COVID-19 Virus Before Flying
The state of Hawaii has launched a new program to keep travelers healthy while in the state. It’s called Hawaii Safe Travels, and it requires domestic travelers to get vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus and have a negative test result before flying. The program has received mixed reactions from the public, and could be phased out next month unless a change is made. Until then, the state will be requiring its residents to wear masks and get vaccinations.
The Safe Travels system is a web-based system that enables travelers to document their trip to Hawaii and manage their health information. All travelers are required to create an account, but minors should create their own account and follow the instructions provided by an adult. Children are also required to get a COVID-19 test, and the State of Hawaiian Health recommends using Worksite Labs or Vault to get tested. The website has a QR code that travelers can use to verify their information.
COVID Credentials is an HIPAA-secure digital vaccine record. To get a COVID credential, travelers must have a valid photo ID and a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination card. Upon completion of the application, the user will receive a QR code. The code will allow them to access the online application, where they can enter their information and submit it. They can then access their results from anywhere, and share them with family and friends. The COVID Credentials are also a means to notify the State of Hawaii of their status.
The state of Hawaii requires all travelers to use the Safe Travels system before March 26, 2022. The program ends on March 25, 2022, and all travelers must abide by the Safe-Travels protocols until then. Failure to abide by the program will result in a mandatory quarantine for 5 days. The Department of Attorney General enforces this policy and the guest is responsible for all costs. In addition to the mandatory quarantine, the State of Hawaii requires a positive test result or proof of vaccination.
While the state of Hawaii will not require quarantine, the state will continue to require travelers to register on the Safe-Travels website before they depart. The site will also include the latest updates regarding the program. The information they enter will be compared to other travelers, and will be used to make recommendations on how to best prepare for the quarantine period. The information will be available to any medical staff upon arrival and will be shared with the airlines.
In addition to the Hawaii Safe Travels system, domestic travelers must also register in the state’s Safe Travels program before entering the state. International travelers will continue to be treated as if they are traveling to Hawaii. Once the quarantine period ends, all international travelers will need to register on the site. A negative test result will guarantee a safe travel. The system will still require proof of vaccination before the start of the emergency. Until March 25, 2022, international passengers will have to comply with the same rules and regulations as domestic visitors.
